AFI

Notable Songs:

Wester (10/10)

            Total Immortal (9/10)

            Morning Star (9/10)

Notes:

Great band, but crazy, and their lyrics are a little hard to understand sometimes.  If you like those songs you also might want to Days of the Pheonix, The Last Kiss, and about anything else.  Their style can range quite a bit as you can see from the differences between Wester and Morning Star.

Alkaline Trio

Notable Songs:

            Private Eye (9/10)

            Radio (8/10)

            Stupid Kid (8/10)

Notes:

Referred to as the “dark side of blink 182”.  Definitely darker and depressed but the lead singer has an intriguing voice.

Allister

Notable Songs:

            Moper (8/10)

            I Told You So (6/10)

            Friday Night (6/10)

Notes:

I don’t really like the style.  There lyrics are shallow and are supposed to be funny, but does being funny really make a great band?  They might be better known for their covers “Fraggle Rawk” and “I Want It That Way”.

Ataris, The

Notable Songs:

San Dimas High School Football Rules (10/10)

            Your Boyfriend Sucks (8/10)

Summer Wind was Always Our Son (8/10)

Notes:

One of the better bands to not have made it big yet.  I’m sure you’ve heard of them before, but if you want some more songs that are really good: “Giving up on love” and “Between you and Me”.

Audio Karate

Notable Songs:

            Senior Year (10/10)

            One Day (8/10)

Do You Miss Meaning Everything To Me (8/10)

Notes:

Yes, you have to get used to the lead singer, but once you do they have some really sweet songs.  Yes, I am biased towards Senior Year because it is my senior year.  Some other good songs are “Monster in Disguise” and “Betrayed”.

Bad Religion

Notable Songs:

            You are the Government (9/10
            Infected (8/10)

            Punk Rock Song (8/10)

Notes:

A classic punk band.  Download a couple songs and you will basically see what they are all about.  I don’t need to do any praising because it is done by everyone else.

Braid

Notable Songs:

            A Dozen Roses (7/10)

            First Day Back (7/10)

Never Will Come For Us (6/10)

Notes:

            Emo.

Brand New

Notable Songs:

            Seventy Times 7 (9/10)

            Failure By Design (8/10)

            Mixed Tape (7/10)

Notes:

Pretty good, emotionally packed.  They are a little original but not enough to really stand out.

BrodiePunk

Notable Songs:

            One of a Kind (9/10)

            Perfect Girl (8/10)

            Stupid Bastard (7/10)

Notes:

A good pop-punk band, although I have found it difficult to get some of their songs.  I said pop-punk because of his voice and lyrics, but the songs are actually pretty fast.  Definitely worth checking out.

Blink 182

Notable Songs:

            Dammit (10/10)

            Anthem Part 2 (9/10)

            Man Overboard (9/10)

Notes:

Okay, if you haven’t heard of them you must have been hiding in a cave, with your eyes closed, and your fingers in your ears.  Some say they are sellouts, but who cares, they still make good music.  I still wonder why they have to curse in every song,  but whatever.  Other great songs: “The Rock Show”, “What’s my age again”, “Pathetic”, “Dick Lips”, “The Party Song”, “Rollercoaster”, “Josie”, “Apple Shampoo”, actually anything from their Dude Ranch CD. . .

Catch 22

Notable Songs:

            Keasbey Nights (7/10)

            Dear Sergio (6/10)

            Super Nothing (6/10)

Notes:

I really can’t see why some people like these guys so much.  They are ska FYI, and they always seem like they are rushing their songs.  It is a unique style I guess.

Dashboard Confessional

Notable Songs:

            Again I go Unnoticed (9/10)

            Saints and Sailors (9/10)

            The Good Fight (8/10)

Notes:

One guy with a guitar and a voice, who would have thought it would be so great?  This is emo at its best.  Other songs you will want to check out: “The Places you fear the most”, “Drowning”, “Screaming Infidelities”. . .

Dynamite Boy

Notable Songs:

            Julie H (8/10)

            Catching On (7/10)

            Lullaby (7/10)

Notes:

Good band, although some of their songs start to sound repetitive. “Charmed” is another good song.

Fairweather

Notable Songs:

            Casting Curses (8/10)

Let’s Hear it for Dartanian (8/10)

If they Move. . .Kill Them(7/10)

Notes:

Nice guitar and the lead singer has a sweet emo voice.  Some say they are a copy of STD but I think their songs are faster, just wait for them to come out with a couple great songs.  Their most popular right now is probably If they Move. . .Kill Them which is also the title of their CD.

Fenix TX

Notable Songs:

            All My Fault (9/10)

            Speechless (7/10)

            Katie W (7/10)

Notes:

            Very much pop-punk.

Finch

Notable Songs:

            Perfection Through Silence (9/10)

            Letters to You (9/10)

            Untitled (8/10)

Notes:

Bordering on hardcore, definitely worth listening to.  Get their new CD.

Five and Dime

Notable Songs:

            One Day (8/10)

            Superstar (8/10)

            Left You Behind (8/10)

Notes:

Another pop-punk band, not many songs yet, but almost all of them are good.

Fuel

Notable Songs:

            Hemorrhage (9/10)

            Shimmer (8/10)

            Bad Day (8/10)

 Notes:

Not really punk, hardcore, ska, or emo, so should they really be on here?  Sure why not.  Good band.

Further Seems Forever

 Coming soon.

Gameface

Notable Songs:

            How far is Goodbye (8/10)

            My Star (7/10)

            The Problem with me (7/10)

Notes:

This emo band is okay but pretty unoriginal, which I wouldn’t mind except a lot of their songs are slow.  Still, they are worth listening to for yourself.

Get Up Kids, The

Notable Songs:

            Red Letter Day (7/10)

            Action & Action (7/10)

            Fall Semester (7/10)

Notes:

Emo, like Dashboard but with more guitar.  They sound good, but I haven’t given much higher ratings because I can’t find good recordings of their songs.

Goldfinger

Notable Songs:

            99 Red Balloons (9/10)

            Bro (8/10)

            Anxiety (7/10)

Notes:

First of all 99 Red Balloons is a cover, but honestly, who’s heard of the first band that played it?  Anyways, these guys are ska-punk, not bad.  Besides, they were on the original Tony Hawk soundtrack, need I say more?  Also one of the bands to work on the great song “the Innocent”.

Good Charlotte

Notable Songs:

            I Heard You (9/10)

            Waldorf Worldwide (9/10)

            Seasons (9/10)

Notes:

Awesome band!  Every song on their CD is great.  Other must-have songs: “The Little Things”, “Motivations Proclamation”, and “Festival Song”.  They have a range of speeds for their songs, but the lead singer is just great in all of them.

Good Riddance

Coming Soon

Green Day

  Notable Songs:

            When I Come Around (9/10)

            Basket Case (9/10)

            Time of Your Life (8/10)

Notes:

Old school punk band, were very popular.  Brought lots of people into the genre and are still good.
