Relient K

Notable Songs:

            My Girlfriend (7/10)

            When You’re Around (6/10)

            Sadie Hawkins Dance (6/10)

Notes:

A pop-punk band (if not straight pop) whose lyrics are stupid and shallow.  Oh well.

Rufio

Notable Songs:

            Dipshit (9/10)

            One Slowdance (9/10)

            Above Me (8/10)

Notes:

A great punk band that is emotionally charged.  Everything on “Perhaps, I suppose” is just awesome, especially the first 6 songs.

Samiam

Notable Songs:

            She Found You (9/10)

            Ordinary Life (7/10)

            Regret (7/10)

Notes:

I guess they are classic, older emo.

Saves the Day

Notable Songs:

            Shoulder to the Wheel (9/10)

            Rocks Tonic Juice Magic (8/10)

            At Your Funeral (8/10)

Notes:

Another popular rock/emo band.  Check out any of those songs and you will get a clear sense of their style.

Simple Plan

Notable Songs:

            I’m Just a Kid (9/10)

I’d Do Anything (7/10)

When I’m with you (7/10)

Notes:

They are very poppy and repetitive, still you might find yourself singing the lyrics to I’m Just a Kid because that song is pretty sweet.

Something Corporate

Notable Songs:

            Hurricane (10/10)

            Straw Dog  (9/10)

            Konstantine (8/10)

Notes:

Good but I would say a little overrated.  You might ask then why I gave such high ratings?  Because those songs are really good, especially Hurricane (which you can see I gave a 10), but after that I feel the songs drop off a little.  There is good piano in this band though.

Starting Line, The

Notable Songs:

            Best of Me (9/10)

            Saddest Girl Story (9/10)

            Greg’s Last Day (9/10)

Notes:

Okay, some say they are an NFG rip-off but I definitely think they have their own distinct sound.  The songs are great, some others you might want to check out: Three’s a Charm, Cheek to Cheek (probably most popular), and Left Coast Envy. If you’re going away to college as I am in a less than a year, watch out for Greg’s Last Day, it almost made me cry (though I would like to make sure you note that I didn’t actually cry).

Sum 41

Notable Songs:

            Fat Lip (9/10)

            Makes No Difference (9/10)

Motivation (8/10)

Notes:

I can see the resemblance to Blink, but is that really such a bad thing?  I don’t think so and neither do a lot of people.  Other songs to download: In Too Deep, All She’s Got, and Rythms.

Taking Back Sunday

Notable Songs:

            You’re So Last Summer (10/10)

Cute without the e (Cut from the Team) (9/10)

There’s no I in Team (9/10)

Notes:

Real sweet.  Awesome emotion.  They commonly do that thing where one person is singing one lyrics and someone else is singing others in the background, sounds really good!

Thursday

Notable Songs:

Understanding in a Car Crash (9/10)

            Cross Out the Eyes (8/10)

            Concealer (8/10)

Notes:

Extremely emotionally charged band.  You might have to get used to them but once you do the songs are pretty sweet.

Unwritten Law

Notable Songs:

            Cailin (9/10)

            Seeing Red (9/10)

            Holliday (8/10)

Notes:

They have a lot of variations in their songs, from laid-back to rocking out.  Of course, they are pretty popular so I’ll bet you already know their best songs.

Weezer

Notable Songs:

            Buddy Holly (9/10)

            My Name is Jonas (9/10)

            Photograph (8/10)

Notes:

They really have all kinds of great songs and have been around for a while.  Really mellow so don’t expect like punk when you download them.  In the guide I put up some of the most popular, but my own favorites and must downloads are: The World Has Turned and Left Me Here, The Sweater Song, In the Garage, Island in the Sun, and Say It Ain’t So.

Yellowcard

Notable Songs:

            October Nights (10/10)

            Sure Shot (8/10)

            Cigarette (8/10)

Notes:

Wow lots of good songs, and October Nights is a must have for any punk fan.  Other songs I would try: Starstruck and Rock Star Land.  BTW, these guys are on the game Amped.

Zebrahead

Notable Songs:

            Now or Never (8/10)

            Playmate of the Year (8/10)

            Check (7/10)

Notes:

Fast style and traditional punk.  Now or Never is a pump up song IMO so go and listen to it.  Playmate of the year has humor as its main ally but it is a good song too.
